1st Lt. WILLIAM HAROLD HOTT was born on April 17th, 1921, in Prairie Township. He is one of 8 children of Amos Gilliam Hott and Sarah (Hostetler) Hott. 1st Lt. W. Hott entered the U.S. Army from Ohio and served in D Company, 1st Battalion, 32nd Infantry Regiment, 7th Infantry Division. He died on December 1st, 1950, in North Korea, at the age of 29. The U.S. Army issued a report of death February 28th, 1951, and declared his remains non-recoverable on January 16th, 1956. On July 27th, 2018, North Korea unilaterally turned over to the United States 55 boxes of remains believed to be U.S. service members killed during the war. On March 18th, 2025, the Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency (DPAA) identified the remains of 1st Lt. William H. Hott who was missing from the Korean War (1950-1953).

1st Lt. William H. Hott’s remains will be returned home Friday August 22nd where a convoy will escort him from Cleveland Hopkins Airport to Alexander Funeral Home, in Millersburg, Ohio. Public funeral services will be held at 11a.m. Monday August 25th at the William T. Baker Building at Harvest Ridge 8880 OH 39, Millersburg, Ohio, with Military Honors conducted by the United States Army Honor Guard. A private interment will take place at Prairie Township Cemetery, Holmesville, Ohio. Alexander Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
