Virginia Hallman Obituary

Virginia May Hallman, age 94, of Walnut Hills Retirement Home, passed away Saturday, October 30th, 2021 at Walnut Hills following a period of declining health.

Family suggests memorial contributions be made to LifeCare Hospice. 


Virginia was born February 21st, 1927 in Columbus, Ohio and was the daughter of Charles and Edna May (Castelle) Harper. On January 5th, 1945 she married Herbert E. Hallman and he preceded her in death on June 15th, 2015.


Virginia went to Malone College with her daughter where she received her Bachelor's Degree in 1971. She was a public school teacher that taught 18 years at North Canton School District. Virginia was a past member of Canton First Friends and was a current member at Martin's Creek Mennonite Church. She was a Girl Scout leader for 10 years, taught Sunday School and sang in the church choir. Virginia loved to quilt and taught a quilting class at her former church in Florida. 


She is survived by two children; son, Duane (Carole) Hallman of Louisville, Ohio and daughter, Diana (Ken) Miller of Berlin, Ohio; five grandchildren, Dayna (Pedro) Guzman, Kyle (Kelly) Miller, Kara (Troy) Eberly, Marc (Julie) Hallman and Matt (Trish) Hallman; 14 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Winona Barnhart of Dayton, Ohio. 


She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Herbert; and siblings, David Harper, Allison Skipper and Charolette Chester.
