Verna Lois Casey, age 83, of Millersburg, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Friday morning, January 10, 2025 at Majora Lane Care Center following an extended illness. She was born September 4, 1941, in Big Springs, Tennessee as the second of four children to George Gilbert Brown and Loreta Burr Riddle Brown, Verna was born four years to the day after her eldest sister Bonnie, who fondly recalls Verna as "the best birthday present [she] ever received." Verna married the love of her life, James Arthur "Jim" Casey, with whom she raised two wonderful children. Those who knew Verna cherished her bright smile, her laugh, and her Sweet Southern drawl. She filled countless lives with happy memories to surely be treasured for years to come. Verna worked many years at Fair Drugs then Mast Pharmacy. She was a member of the Millersburg Christian Church. She loved the sun, flowers, gardening, sun tanning and shopping. 

Verna was preceded in death by her parents, George and Loreta; her husband, Jim; her son, James Michael Casey; brother-in-law, Bill Hart; sister-in-law, Ann Brown; and two nieces, Penny Jones and Tracy Stack. 

She is survived by her daughter, Julie Hochstetler (Ric) of Millersburg; grandchildren, Taj Lane and Casey (Ana) Hochstetler; two great-grandchildren, Iriel Mena and Samuel Hochstetler; sisters, Bonnie Hart of Memphis, Tennessee and Emma Jean Ritsig (Bill) of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; a brother, Kenneth Brown of Mount Juliet, Tennessee; and several nieces and nephews. 

We all miss Verna very dearly, but we take comfort in knowing that she has returned home to be with the Lord and is surrounded by many loved ones.
