Thomas A. Brewer, of Glenmont passed away on September 3, 2023 at his home. His loving wife, Julia (née Simmons) helped Tom enjoy the last several years of his life while he battled dementia. Tom and Julia met when they were 20 years old while attending Ohio University. They were married in August of 1980 and recently celebrated their 43rd wedding anniversary. Tom was a teacher and coach for over 35 years, beginning his career at Nelsonville-York and then spending the vast majority at West Holmes Middle School, where he loved working and socializing with the stellar staff. Tom was a volunteer fire fighter, CCD teacher, and Sts. Peter and Paul Parish Council member. Tom loved running and music. In his later days he found special solace in the songs of John Prine. Tom is survived by his wife, Julia, 3 daughters and 1 son: Grace (Dan Sears), Luke (Kristen Bricker), Emma (Brett Butler), & the baby, Madelyn. His Goddaughter, Joy Dreher, brought him immense joy over the past 5 years. He is also survived by 5 sisters and 1 brother, in-laws, and many nieces and nephews. Tom loved his family dearly, both those related by blood and those he chose. A funeral mass will be held at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Glenmont on Saturday, September 16th at 11 am. There will be a celebration of life planned for a later date.
