Terry Byland Obituary


Terry Lee Byland, age 60, of Millersburg, Ohio went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, January 28, 2023 at Altman Hospital, Canton, Ohio with his wife at his side, following an extended illness.
A memorial service will be held 3 p.m. Sunday, February 5th at the Perry Reese Center at Hiland High School with Todd Booth officiating. Military rites will be conducted at the start of the service. Terry was born October 31, 1962 in Davenport, Iowa and was the son of Allen Byland and Maxine Cole McAfee. On September 26, 2020 he married Michele Mullet and she survives.
Terry previously worked for Buckeye Mannikins. He was currently employed at the Holmes County sheriff's office where he served in both the correction division and road division. He was also a resource officer and track coach for Hiland High School. Terry served the citizens of Holmes County for the last 28 years. He loved hiking, biking, caving and rappelling. Terry enjoyed martial arts and being outdoors. He was a beautiful soul and a humble man. He made an impact on all "his kids" in school. Terry attended church in Canton and spoke highly of both Berlin Christian Fellowship and Gateway Fellowship Church in Millersburg. He did missionary work in Haiti, Thailand, Indonesia and in several US states. Terry taught God's word for many years and witnessed to everyone that was ever in the back of his sheriff's car.
Surviving an addition to his wife, Michele are two daughters: Jacklyn N. (Flinner) McEwen and Katlyn C. Mullet - Burdine; seven grandchildren; his father, Allen Byland; mother, Maxine McAfee; four brothers: Tim Allen, Byland, Larry D. Byland, John J. Byland and Keith Allen Byland; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and good friends.
He was preceded in death by his stepmother, Clara Byland.
