Sylvia Dorlene Baker was born June 13, 1933, in Smithville, WV to Carlie Alton and Sylvia (Kimble) Miller. She married Robert Perry Baker on June 22, 1952.
She was a faithful member of Locust Grove Church of Christ, Killbuck, Ohio. She instilled the love of the Lord and the importance of reading the bible to her family and friends. Most nights, she’d gather all her children together to read the bible. She loved music. She never missed a Saturday night listening to the Grand Ole Opry, which inspired her son and grandsons to play music and form the band Borderline – Her all-time favorite band. She also loved to travel, dragging 5 kids all over the United States. Other interests included crafts, sewing (was a member of the Sewing B’s), playing games (“Grandma needs an Ace”), and family time. Her focus in life was to raise her children, tend to their home and their garden. She was loving, sharing, caring, giving, and an inspiration to so many. Their home was always open to anyone that needed a place to stay. Her main concern was for her family and friends to be saved.
Perry & Dorlene had 5 children: Roseanna Underwood, Marsha (Paul) Davis, Killbuck. Steve (Diane) Baker, Shreve. Don (Marcella) Baker, Millersburg. Frank (Sandy) Baker, Killbuck.
15 Grandchildren: Bert Underwood, Melissa Underwood, Woody Davis, Sean Davis, Bliss Neville, Ben Baker, Clint Baker, Joe Baker, Sara Cook, Rachel Baker, Daniel Baker, Andrew Baker, Luke Baker, Mitch Baker & Kendra Gundrum. 24 Great grandchildren. A special thanks to Crystal Styker Lovell (Adopted granddaughter) For all the love and care you gave. You have been a true blessing to her and the family.
Dorlene was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her sister Vernitta (Sue) McCune.
