Susan Aileen (Ickes) Parrot, 64, of Holmesville is now residing in her heavenly home as of April, 12th
2023.. She is now in the presence of our Lord, Jesus Christ living without her Glioblastoma. Her final
moments were spent peacefully in her home surrounded by her family.
She was the daughter of James (Jim) and Aileen Ickes of Wooster, Ohio. She graduated from Triway High
school class of ‘77 and continued her education at The Ohio State University Beauty School where she
earned her cosmetology license.
She started her beauty career at Pixie’s in downtown Wooster where she met her husband. She married
Arthur Parrot of Fredericksburg on April 4th, 1981 and he survives. Together they started a life raising a
family on the farm; hogs, cattle, and their kids (AKA her chicks).
Susie was the mother of Willie (Amber) Parrot, Brian (Molly) Parrot, Christina Parrot, Michael (Meegan)
Parrot. But above all she was a proud Momo to Evan, Alese, Sarah, Kaylee and Kacen. She was also a
loving sister to Jim (Jill) Ickes and Janice Ickes and an Aunt to several nieces. Her Aunt
Lucille Arthur also survives.
Our mother took great pride in being the Mother Hen to her four Chicks and spoiling her grandchildren.
Family traditions meant everything to Susie. Even through her last days she was always putting others
first and worried about their well being over her own.
Susie was very devoted to the Holmesville Church of Christ where she was the song leader for well over
30 years. She was also active in the community where she had met many friends along the way. On the
weekends, you could always count on a full house of friends either waiting for a haircut or just stopping by
to visit. Her kitchen was always full of love, laughter, and friends. In the summertime, friends and family
could always count on the pool being open and a bonfire ready for whatever you found to eat.
Her second family was a few miles down the road at the Holmes County Home where she worked for 30
years. Susie absolutely loved working and caring for the residents. If it wasn’t for her cancer she’d still be
there, continuing to touch even more hearts than all the hair she cut there. She would often go grocery
shopping for residents and stop by on the weekends with her children. Her children grew up with the
residents over the years, even catching the bus there once in a while. The family wants to thank all the
employees and residents over the years for allowing their mother to be a part of their lives.
Thank you to the entire Hospice team for your outstanding service and support. Especially Sarah for your
outstanding care for our Mother.
Susie was preceded in death by her parents, Jim and Aileen Ickes and her uncle John Brown.
Funeral services will be held at Holmesville Church of Christ on Monday April 17th, 11am. Friends and
family may call on Sunday April 16, from 2-6p at Holmesville Church of Christ. Family may call an hour
prior to services on Monday.
Donations for Susie may be sent to Alexander Funeral Home to help defray cost or Lifecare Hospice of
Wooster.
