Ruth Lowayne Miller

Ruth Lowayne Miller age 97, formerly of Lakeville, died Sunday, January 15, 2023 at Majora Lane Nursing Home, after a brief period of declining health. She was born January 6, 1926 in rural Killbuck, Ohio the daughter of Lloyd L. Leckrone and Vera I. Fortune Leckrone.

Friends may call on Thursday, January 19th from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm., at Alexander Funeral Home in Millersburg. Service will begin at 1:00 pm with Reverend Cliff Beck officiating. Ruth enjoyed her lengthy career as a Licensed Practical Nurse and was employed by the Hayesville Nursing Home, and Castle Nursing Homes in Millersburg. She loved her patients, and strongly advocated for the dignity and well-being of every person. She was an active member of the Lakeville United Methodist Church, where she participated in Sunday School, United Methodist Women, Vacation Bible School, and the afterschool children’s ministry “Jesus and Me.” Ruth was also a long time 4-H volunteer for the Lakeville Lassies 4-H Club. She enjoyed traveling, reading, crocheting, shopping and dining out. She was a very busy lady, but she always made time to help her friends! She loved attending school events for her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews. She especially loved the Llama shows at the Holmes County Fair and all musical programs.

She is survived by daughters Norma Runnion Threet, Maxine Carter, Kathy Schlabach, and Mary Moder, grandchildren Carl Wesley (Natalie) Tope, Cindy Tope Bernard, Bobbie Lynn (Jeff) Threet Page, Billy Joe Threet, Angelina (Richard) Threet Whitten, Christopher (Libby) Threet, John McCune, Randy (Katherine) Musgrove, Aemie (Bob) Sigler, Steve (Trang) Schlabach, Bobbi (Dale) Wells, and Erin (Bob) Carder. Also surviving are 36 great grandchildren and 17 great-great grandchildren, sister Lois Clark and many nieces and nephews and their spouses and children.

In addition to her parents, Ruth was preceded in death by her son, Willis Dean Miller, siblings Jean Domer, Leila Speck and John Leckone, grandchildren Lori Runnion Thompson and Jason Dean Runnion. Sons-in-law Bobby Threet, Dick Carter, Dennis Schlabach and Jim Moder.
