Ruth was born at Storm Lake, Iowa on December 22, 1932 to Elmer and Mary Nelson Benberg.  She went to be with the Lord, who she loved supremely on April 19, 2025. 

In 1951 she graduated from Litchfield, Minnesota High School.  From there she moved with her family to Bentonville, Arkansas where she worked in the office of Carroll Electric.  A close friend was attending the Assembly of God Bible College in Springfield, Missouri, so she decided to attend Central Bible College as well.  Her focus was on music, voice, piano and accordion at which she did very well.  While there, she met her future husband, J. Lloyd Lentz, from Gnadenhutten, Ohio.

Lloyd and Ruth were married August 30, 1956 and moved to Gnadenhutten.  She was very active in the Church, serving wherever she was needed.  She also worked in the office of Alsco in Gnadenhutten and the Prontour Company in New Philadelphia.  Later she and Lloyd pastored a church in West Lafayette, Ohio until his passing.  After Lloyd’s death, she served as a Foster Grandparent in the Claymont and Indian Valley School districts.

Ruth was a licensed minister, and her love for the Lord led her to many churches where she ministered in music and the Word.    She eventually pastored the Full Gospel Pentecostal Church at Gnadenhutten.  Her heart was in pastoring, but age was catching up, so she resigned and moved to Millersburg to be close to her daughter, Janet Yoder, who helped her as needed.  Son, Bryan, and his wife Dana also helped her even though they lived in New Philadelphia.  She became very active in the Millersburg Church of God.

Surviving Ruth are her children, J. Bryan (Dana) Lentz and Janet (Lester) Yoder.  Her grandchildren are Daniel (J.R.) Yoder, Heather Lentz, and Shannon Lentz. Great-grandchildren are Rocky and Riley Parsons (twins), Tobey and Tyler Parsons, with one great-great-grandchild Raphael Lentz.  Also surviving are her brothers, Edwin Benberg of Portland, Oregon, and Tom (Betty) Benberg of Atlanta, Georgia; brother-in-law Carlton Lentz and sisters-in-law, Sarah Lentz, and Katherine Lentz; many nieces and nephews complete the family.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, husband J. Lloyd Lentz, son Douglas Lentz, mother-in-law Ethel (Grammy) Lentz, grandchild Andrea Yoder, and brothers-in-law Bill, Richard, and Glenn Lentz.

Services will be held at 1pm on Thursday, April 24th at Sunshine Villa, 149 E Jones St, Millersburg, Ohio.
