Ruth Elizabeth Hastings, age 97, of Millersburg, Ohio passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday, June 15th, 2023 surrounded by her loving family.
Memorial service will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, June 30th at Hopewell Presbyterian Church. Graveside services will take place 10:00 a.m. Saturday, July 1st at Prairie Township Cemetery, Holmesville, OH.
Family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Hopewell Presbyterian Church Endowment Fund.
Ruth was born September 6th, 1925 in Millersburg, Ohio and was the daughter of William and Alma Bigler. On October 12th, 1946. She married Paul Hastings and he preceded her in death on April 6th, 2003.
Ruth was a graduate of Millersburg High School and attended nurses training in Massillon. She worked as a RN at Pomerene Hospital for many years. Following retirement from the hospital, she worked for the Holmes County Health Department and also for Castle Nursing Home. Ruth was a member of Hopewell Presbyterian Church. She was an avid gardener, quilter and world traveler. She loved her loyal companion dog, Homer.
She is survived by three children: Jack Hastings of Wooster, Ohio, Diane (Steve) Freese of Rochester, MN and Fred (Beverly) Hastings of Kingsley, MI; 10 grandchildren: Marty and Wanda Miller, Kimberly Hastings, Danielle and Brett Brown, Julie and Ryan Solomonson, Susan and Dan Shubert, Laura and Dan Bukstein, Arron and Kali Vasquez, Paul Hastings, Beth and Rob Demko and Sarah and Hendrick Kok; and 21 great grandchildren: Cody, Kaylee and Austin Miller, Jillian and Evelyn Johnson, Katie, Peter and Anna Solomonson, Edward, Quinn and Cecelia Shubert, Benjamin and Sage Bukstein, Adam and Aurora Vasquez, Andrew, Charles and Abigail Demko, and Caitlin, Katherine and Megan Kok
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and sister, Marilyn Bigler.
