Having been endeared to Witchcraft/Wicca since the early seventies, mostly in spirit, I became familiar with Raymond and his work after reading one of his early books. It was not until recently when I started with his Big Blue Book, however, that I learned of his passing for which I give my condolences. Yet, when I learned that he ended his days in a small village next to the one where my father was from, Nashville, Ohio, and where both my parents are buried, I was both amazed and heartfelt. I always loved Holmes county and could see why he settled there as it epitomizes the spiritual environment of his religion. Best wishes in the next life.

Message from A Neighbor
November 28, 2021 5:46 PM

Ray and Tara were our "neighbors" for a minute when we lived up on the hill. I cannot remember how we met, but I will never forget how Ray made a person feel. He never failed to make you laugh, make you think, or make you feel comfortable enough to reply honestly and thoughtfully. He would often stop to talk to my son, 4 years old at the time, if he was playing outside as Ray was gliding home in his tiny, too-cool-for-school sports car. He was just that kind of guy. The guy who genuinely does want to know every bit of minutiae about Spiderman from the perspective of a 4 year old. One of a kind. Love to Tara and family.

Bucky,

I cannot express how grateful I am for your teachings. They have completely changed my life for the better. Your confidence and recognition in solitary practice has allowed me to form a personal connection with the Gods that is unique to me and my intuition and grows every day. As I sit here in bed with my accepting wife who also loves your teachings, im enjoying just one of many lessons from you in advanced candle magick. I wish I could have met you in this life, but I have no doubt our paths will cross when its time. Thank you dearly, -Attlis

Good journey, Mr. Buckland. Your "big blue book" gave me the courage to spread my wings, sir, and to be everything I was meant to be. Thank you for the key to the door. Good journey.

Ray had the biggest impact on me when I first started studying Wicca in 1975. He is the best teacher I ever had, and I enjoyed his practical, balanced style. His correspondence course was a much-needed aid for us studying on our own. He shaped my ideas and practice in numerous ways. He is missed.

I knew Mr. Buckland as a young girl. I used to walk home from the library and meet him on the avenue. He was always so very kind and pleasant. I have read many of his books and corresponded with him for a brief time. What a wonderful soul!

Ray was one of my first teachers. He and Tara came to my house in San Diego in 1985ish, I was then asked to join his coven. I think Samhain was the first Sabbath, I was present for at his San Diego home. Ray is in my heart and head, for me, he is not gone, just not here.

I knew Ray since I was a baby, used to call him Unca Ray. I didn't know he had passed until now, I had not been able to be home much, due to my job, I wish I'd known that he was in failing health. I will cherish the memories I have of Ray, the most human being I've ever known, what a memorable man he was.

I never had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Buckland, but we did exchange a few emails. he was the reason I found Wicca. I gave away his Complete Guide of Witchcraft to someone who at the time needed it more than I did, knowing its what he would've wanted. Of course, I didn't wait too long before I got another "Big Blue Book". The world is just a little darker without him.
