Nile Duane Hochstetler Obituary

Nile Duane Hochstetler, age 91, passed away on Wednesday, June 12, 2024, at Danbury Senior Living in Millersburg, Ohio, his home for the last 6 months of life. He was born on July 15, 1932, in Millersburg, Ohio, to Perry and Esther (Mast) Hochstetler. Nile proudly served in the Army during the Korean War from 1952 to 1954. 


Nile retired in 1994 from Smith Dairy after 28 years and had previously worked as an electrician for Millersburg Electric. He loved spending time with family, enjoying the company of friends, delving into family and community history, telling captivating stories, and rooting for his favorite sports teams.


He is survived by his children: Kelly (Richard) Swartzentruber, Stacy (James) Mairs, and Heidi Gates (Phillip Hind); grandchildren: Ericka (Jason) Hitchcock, Nicole (Cory) Snyder, Lincoln (Kalie) Rottman, and Jock (Caitlin) Rottman; 10 great-grandchildren, whom he adored; and his sibling, Dean Hochstetler. Nile was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Sharon Lawhead Hochstetler.

Nile was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle and a loyal friend. He will be remembered for his kind and cheerful demeanor, his dedication to his family, and his ability to make everyone he knew feel valued.
