Mike Hummel

Mike Hummel, age 69, of Millersburg, Ohio passed away Saturday, May 20, 2023 at Aultman Hospital, Canton, Ohio surrounded by his loving family. 

Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Friday, May 26th at Millersburg Baptist Church with Pastor Jim Jamison officiating. Burial will take place at Sunnyside Cemetery, Glenmont, Ohio. Mike was born February 9, 1954 in Millersburg, Ohio and was the son of Maynard and Betty (Mullet) Hummel. On December 9, 1977 he married Penny Stephens.

Mike was a 1972 graduate of Hiland High School. In his early years he was a part-time Dairy Farmer while working at Holmes Oil and later became a co-owner. He was a member of the Millersburg Baptist Church, a former Berlin Lions Club member, served on the Chamber of Commerce, and was a frequent flyer at the BS table. Mike enjoyed his hobby greenhouse, hydroponics, martial arts, hunting, fishing, shooting, and he taught firearm classes. He was an advocate for school safety.  He had an enduring love for his wife and he loved spending time with his family. He will be deeply missed.

Surviving in addition to his wife, Penny are five children: Jill (Michael Welchman) Hummel of Cape Coral, Florida, Chrystal Hummel-Mizer (Ron Harris) of Millersburg, Ohio, Clifton (Cozy) Hummel of Little Elm, Texas, Irene (Jeremy) Burgett of Killbuck, Ohio and Laura (Jon) Markel of Millersburg, Ohio; 11 grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and his sister, Deb Hummel of Oakland, California. 

He was preceded in death by his parents.
