Mary Ellen Ryan

Mary Ellen (Sigrist) Ryan, age 81, of Millersburg, Ohio went home to be with the Lord Sunday, August 2, 2020 at Pomerene Hospital, under hospice care, following a courageous battle with cancer.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday, August 7th, at Gateway Fellowship Church with Pastor Larry Hasemeyer officiating. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the church.

Mary Ellen was born September 1, 1938 in Holmesville, Ohio and was the daughter of Walter E. and Georgie B. (Mohler) Arnold. On May 24, 2003 she married Marco Ryan and he survives.

Mary Ellen was a graduate of Millersburg High School and attended Wooster Business College. She worked for the Village of Millersburg where she spent time as County Auditor and worked in the Clerk of Courts office. Mary Ellen was the founder and co-owner of both the Sunshine Villa in Millersburg and the Villa Resort. It was her dream to minister to the elderly and to those in need of housing. She was a member of Gateway Fellowship Church. Mary Ellen enjoyed gardening, traveling and she loved spending time with her husband, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Surviving in addition to her husband, Marco are two children, Deborah (Stan) Black of Charlotte, North Carolina and Dennis (Karen) Sigrist of Delaware, Ohio; two step daughters, Debra Ryan and Michelle Ryan both of Massillon, Ohio; four grandchildren, Joshua (Sarah) Black, Christine (William) Wigg, Cody (Kelsey) Sigrist and Amanda Harry; and 6 great-grandchildren, Caleb, Eli, Lydia, Hutson, Avery and Baker. She is also survived by her sister's children and her brother's children.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Betty Herman; and her brother, Albert Arnold.
