Mary (Wengerd) Kandel

Mary Kandel, 91, of Berlin, Ohio, went to her Heavenly Home on October 18, 2023, at Aultman Hospital following a period of declining health.

Celebration of Life services will be held 4 p.m. Sunday October 22nd at Martins Creek Mennonite Church with Pastor Jay Conn officiating.  Friends and Family may call from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the church.  A private burial will take place at Grace Church Cemetery in Berlin, Ohio.

Mary was born May 10, 1932, in Wilmot, OH and was the daughter of Andrew C. and Verna (Schlabach) Wengerd.  She married Robert J. Kandel, and he preceded her in death June 3, 1987.  She later married Eli V. Kandel, and he preceded her in death on September 6, 2013.  Mary worked at Owens Illinois retiring in 1993.  She was a member of Martins Creek Mennonite Church.  Mary enjoyed sewing, reading and driving but most of all spending time with her family.

Mary is survived by four children: Patricia (Gary) Leatherman, Lynn (Sharon) Kandel, Randy (Irene) Kandel, Kaye (Wayne) Yoder; stepchildren: Diane (Marvin) Holsopple and Gloria (Dewey) Mishler; twelve grandchildren; 30 great grandchildren; and her brother Marvin Wengerd.

She was preceded in death by both of her husbands; sister Mattie Miller; brother Aden Wengerd and stepson Lowell Kandel.
