Lydia Madison, age 88, of Millersburg, Ohio passed away suddenly at her home on Wednesday, September 25, 2024. 

 

Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday October 1st at Alexander Funeral Home, Millersburg, Ohio with Pastor Zach White officiating. Burial will take place in Blissfield Cemetery, Blissfield, Ohio. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Lydia was born November 7, 1935 in Millersburg, Ohio and was the daughter of James A. "Bert" and Nellie Grace (Lower) Patterson. On June 7, 1956 she married Russell Madison and he preceded her in death on July 1, 2010. 

 

Lydia was a 1954 graduate of Clark School. She worked as a cook for the West Holmes School District, retiring in 2008. During the Summers and after retirement she worked as a prep cook at Scenic Pointe Nursing Home, retiring from there in 2019 at the age of 84. In her younger years, she enjoyed spending time at Salt Fork Resort, sewing, crocheting and cooking for family gatherings. Later in life she enjoyed working on jigsaw puzzles, playing Candy Crush, watching Western movies, bird watching and she loved visits from her grandchildren. 

 

She is survived by four children: Debbie Bullock of Millersburg, David (Hallie) Madison of Millersburg, Richard (Heidi) Madison of Boyceville, Wisconsin and Charles (Paula) Madison of Johnstown, Ohio; 15 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; two brothers: Delmar "Dutch" Patterson of Ely, Nevada and Thomas (Jeanne) Patterson of Millersburg; and numerous nieces and nephews. 

 

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Russell; a son, James Madison; son-in-law, Michael Bullock; brothers: Jimmy Patterson and Michael Patterson; and three great-grandchildren: Silas Hoover, Michelle Madison-Lovell and Russell Mitchell.
