Lucie Tipton Obituary

Lucie Patterson Tipton, age 97, passed away at Walnut Hills Retirement Center on Wednesday, March 18, 2020 after a period of declining health.

Lucie was born January 18, 1923 in Killbuck to parents Mamie and Harry Patterson. She graduated from Millersburg High School in 1940, and married David J Tipton in 1941. He preceded her in death.

She was a highly organized individual with skills in many areas. She worked for Flxible in Loudonville as a Secretary/Supervisor, was Office Manager at Dental Arts in Wooster, worked for Earney Dental in Millersburg, then served as Village Income Tax Administrator for the Village of Millersburg. She participated in various Business & Professional Women’s Organizations.

Lucie, also known as Aunt Chi-Chi to many, enjoyed gardening, reading, traveling, and her family. She loved being “Aunt Lucie” to her many nieces & nephews, grand and great grand nieces & nephews. She was a very loving, outgoing person - with a great sense of humor. She loved her family, her dogs, and helping others.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by an infant son who died at birth; her parents; sisters, Dora (Wilford) VanSickle, Eva (Ray) McDonald, Okey (Charles) Hoffer, Naomi (John) Lender, Mary (Robert) Hoxworth, and Helen (Tom) Mullet; brothers, Wells (Edna) Patterson, Pat (Lee) Patterson, and Earl “Peck” (Charlene) Patterson; and two infant brothers, Glenn and Charles Patterson.

She is survived by a sister, Betty Patterson; a special niece and nephew who were like her adopted children, Trae and John Kropf; plus many loving nieces and nephews of both her family and Dave’s family, all of whom she cherished.

The family would like to thank the staff at Walnut Hills and LifeCare Hospice for not only good medical services but for so much affection and caring.

Due to the current circumstances concerning Covid-19, the family and Alexander Funeral Home have decided to have a private viewing and a private graveside service at Sherwood Memorial Gardens, Wooster Chapel. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Holmes County Dog Warden’s Office, 5387 CR 349, Millersburg, Ohio 44654, to the Millersburg United Methodist Church, 5395 TR 336, Millersburg, Ohio 44654 or to LifeCare Hospice, 1900 Akron Rd., Wooster, Ohio 44691.
