Loretta Pauline (Ridenbaugh) Scheibe passed away on April 12, 2025, at the age of 83. Loretta was born on October 19, 1941, in Millersburg, Ohio, to Kenneth (Kenny) and Helen (McFadden) Ridenbaugh. She grew up in Killbuck and graduated from Killbuck High School in 1959. Loretta left for Atlanta, Georgia, to be a flight attendant for Delta Airlines. But she missed her high school sweetheart, Jan Scheibe, and came back home to start their life together. They were married on April 14, 1962, and welcomed daughter, Holly, in 1964.

Loretta worked for the Killbuck Savings Bank, Addressiveograph Multigraph, and as a Holmes County assistant 4-H agent for OSU Extension. She found much pleasure and satisfaction working with 4-H advisors and youth, coordinating summer 4-H camps at Camp Ohio, driving around the county judging gardening projects, and “living” at the Holmes County Jr. Fair. She then worked at the Holmes County Recorder’s Office, from which she retired. Loretta was a lifelong member of the Killbuck United Methodist Church, and an active member of the United Methodist Women.

Loretta was a devoted big sister to “Butchie” (Butch) Ridenbaugh. She made sure he had much happiness in his life. Her and Jan got a kick out of antique auctions rain or shine, and playing cards with friends, while her and Holly shared a love of art, dining, and the theater. She looked forward to weekly ladies lunches with Faye Patterson, Sara Bell, and Betty Fowler, whom she has dearly missed. Now they can lunch again.

Her greatest joy was being a doting grandma. It was nothing for her and Jan to hop in the car for Columbus to cheer for Trace (Pittenger) at every football game and just to experience his everyday joys. She thought her great-granddaughter, Raine D’Amore, was “just precious.” She would faithfully root for Lindsy (Snyder) Belden and Laina Snyder at their high school and college basketball games and for their continuing basketball careers.

She was happy and content sitting on the porch reading a book amongst the beauty of their garden, enjoying a good cup of black coffee.

Loretta has been reunited with her parents and brother, grandsons Collin and Derrick, and cousins Georgianna (Jim) Ogden and Michael Pence.

A public graveside service will be held at the Killbuck Cemetery on April 18, 2025, at 1:00 p.m.
