Leslie "Rudy" Oiler Jr. age 89 of Killbuck, Ohio passed away Thursday evening, March 23, 2023 with his loving family by his side, following a brief illness.
Leslie was born to Leslie Sr. and Mary Oiler on September 1, 1933. Rudy married Ruth Kinsey on December 1, 1956. Ruth passed away on August 6, 2013. He then got reconnected with his high school sweetheart, Nancy Lutz (Starner). They were able to spend 8 years together before his death.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory, three children and their spouses: Stephen Oiler and Susan Jacobs of Oklahoma, Charles and Lisa Oiler of Glenmont and Tony and Judy Hall of Millersburg; 9 grandchildren; and 16 great grandchildren. He also leaves behind to cherish his memory, his second family for the last 8 years. Nancy Lutz (Starner); her daughter and husband; and her two grandchildren and their spouses.
Rudy was an honorably discharged US Air Force veteran. Rudy is remembered as an extreme West Holmes football fanatic. Not only did he go to the football games, he also helped in the booster club trailer, helped at both the Pee Wee and Freshman football games doing the clock and running chains. His love for football didn't stop there. You could find him on Sunday watching the NFL rooting for any team the other person wasn't rooting for.
Rudy's interest after football were primitive buckskinning, going to the schools and sixth grade camp dressed up in his 1700's time period clothing, and attending many Rendezvous. He was a member of the Killumbuck Longrifles.
Rudy received the Fan of the year in 2013 for West Holmes Athletics. Over the years he attended girls and boys basketball games, baseball and softball games, wrestling, and an occasional soccer match.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Ruth; a daughter, Rose Eileen; one brother; and three sisters.
A Celebration of Life open house will be held on Saturday, April 15th from 1 to 4 p.m. at Grace Bible Fellowship, 4960 Township road, 305, Millersburg. Military honors will be conducted by the Killbuck VFW starting at 2:30 p.m. Arrangements are being handled by Alexander Funeral Home.
