Larry Stallman, 79, Holmesville, Ohio died November 27,2023 while in the care of Ohio’s Hospice
LifeCare with his niece and nephew by his side.
Born March 9,1944 to Ralph and Marie (Phillabaum) Stallman. Larry was a lifelong resident of
Holmes County. He and his wife Zella; "Van" shared eighteen great retirement years together. He
attended Waynedale High School and earned his
G.E. D. while serving in the U.S Army from 1965-1967. He served as a truck driver in the 531st
Transportation Company. Employed by Astro Metallurgical for 26 years,
and retired from Roy and James Schlabach Builders. He was multi-talented fabricating and building items of
necessity and gifts for others. Larry always said he owed much to his cousin Guy Roy and Jo Stallman for
always being there for him.
The past few years he enjoyed sitting on his porch with his little dog on his lap, talking to his
family, neighbors, and Amish friends. Brent and Tera Shelton and Wayne and Viola Yoder added
much to his life. He loved antique cars, trucks, old hit and miss engines, family history and
Holmes County history. He had many memories of his Pennsylvania family. His sisters, brothers,
brothers-in-law, and sisters-in law were close to his heart.
Mourning his passing includes wife Zella "Van", sister-in-law Joy Stallman, nieces and
nephews: Holly Atherton of Holmesville, Terry (Maebeth) Stallman and Sue Holcomb both of
Millersburg, Kim and (Rod) Brenner of Fredericksburg, Mark Shamp of Shreve, Cindi (Bob)
Powers of Bellville, Jodi (Ron) Luke of Guerne, and Bonnie Graham, Randy Turk, George, Beverly,
and Matt Sark all of Wooster, Ohio. Pennsylvania family Richard, and Imogene George of
Vintondale, PA. Caroline and Homer Michaels and Arthur and Carol George all of Homer City PA,
Earl George of Strongstown, PA and a host of nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by parents Ralph and Marie (Phillabaum) Stallman and siblings Howard
Stallman, Lorena Graham, Joan (Virgil) Fickes, Elaine Turk, Donna (Levi) Petersheim. In-laws Alice
(George) Sark.
A private Graveside service will be held at Prairie Township Cemetery, Holmesville, Ohio with
Pastor Eric Fairhurst officiating. Military Rites will be conducted by the Melvin McClure Holmesville
American Legion. Friends may call from 3:30 to 7:30 p.m. Friday, December 1st at Alexander Funeral
