Larry Darcy McVay, age 60, of Millersburg, Ohio passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, January 27, 2021 at his home.
"L.D.", as many of his friends called him, was born on November 21, 1960 in Urbana, Ohio and was raised in West Virginia.
For 20 years, he was a long-haul truck driver, but finished the last 15 years of his career with Feikert Sand & Gravel. He frequently still stopped by Feikert's to visit with old co-workers and friends.
Larry loved hunting, Cub Cadet Tractors, riding his Harley Davidson Motorcycle, and spending time with family and friends. Most of the time you would find him in his garage doing repairs on vehicles for just about any of his friends and family or woodworking, making beautiful furniture. Anyone was always welcome to stop in any time. He didn't know a stranger. But the thing that brought him the most joy was living out his childhood dream of racing motocross by taking his sons racing on any given weekend as they grew up and passing on the love of motocross and motors. While Larry's heart was not strong, it was a huge, generous one.
He is survived by his wife a 40 years, Jeanette McVay; his children, Trent (Cathy) McVay, Adam McVay (Courtney Yoder), and Jeremy McVay; and his grandchildren, Isabiella McVay, Gabriella McVay, Andrea McVay, Henry McVay, and Olivia Weekley. He is also survived by his mother, Della McVay of Louisville, Kentucky; his sister, Janet (Dave) Leet of Louisville, Kentucky; brothers, Darrell (Ruth Ann) McVay of St Clairsville, Ohio and Dewayne McVay of Massillon, Ohio; and also many other sisters and brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Amos McVay; his sister, Charlene; and his nephew, Bruce McVay.
Funeral services will be 3:00 p.m. Sunday, January 31st at Alexander Funeral Home with Pastor Dan Wigton officiating. Friends may call from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Those wishing to share a memory or make online condolences may do so by visiting www.alexanderfhinc.com.
