Larry Dean Gilt, 80, passed away peacefully at Akron Children’s Hospital Burn Unit, June 8, 2024. Larry was born in Millersburg on July 16, 1943; son of Carl and Lucille (Boley) Gilt. After the loss of his parents as a child, he was raised by Lawrence and Verna Lowe with their son, Jim Lowe. He married the love of his life on June 13, 1964. He was a devoted husband to Suzan (Tipton) Gilt, wife of 60 years. Larry was a lifetime member of St. John’s ECC of Millersburg.

Larry retired from Rex Roth after 35 years then filled his time with many labor jobs including a stump cutter business and loading scrap for recycling. Collecting guns, loading ammunition, groundhog and target shooting were his pastimes.

Drafted into the Army 1966 he served in Mekong Delta, Vietnam until 1968. Lifetime member and officer of Killbuck VFW. 

The most important thing was his love and support of his family. In addition to his wife, he is survived by children Craig (Lynne) Gilt, Lori (Scott) Pringle and grandchildren Ian (Kate), Ali, Evan “Ike”, Brooke, and Bree. 

Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Thursday, June 13, 2024 at Oak Hill Cemetery, Millersburg, Ohio with Pastor Darcy Miller officiating. Online condolences can be made by visiting www.alexanderfhinc.com.
