Karen Sue Morris Obituary
Karen Sue “Termite” (McGovern) Morris was called home to be with the Lord on May 30, 2025
following an extended stay at the Holmes County Home, where she was lovingly cared for in her final season of life.
She was born on May 6, 1947, to William McGovern and Mary (Treece) Bailey, and spent her entire life in Killbuck, Ohio — a place she proudly called home. She was the oldest of four
siblings, Charlotte (McGovern) Marsh, Paulette (Gray) Eick, and Robert P. “Bob” Gray.
She was a 1965 graduate of West Holmes High School, the first class to graduate from the
newly built high school at that time. From there, she worked over three decades in admissions
at Pomerene Hospital and spent her “retired” life working at Sycamore Run Care Center for
several years to follow.
On February 19, 1966, she married Andy Charles “Charlie” Morris, beginning a union that lasted
59 years. They were blessed with two children: Andy Charles “Chuck” Morris Jr. and Julie
(Morris) Anderson. Their home was a place no one left unloved or unfed — a place where the
grandchildren spent countless hours growing up together, wrapped in laughter, unforgettable
memories, and a constant fight over who was grandma's favorite. The endless love that she
gave, was shown through her home-cooked meals, famous chocolate milkshakes, and
unwavering support to all those she loved.
As a member of the Killbuck First Church of Christ, her strong Christian faith was the foundation of her life. She took great joy in sharing God's word with her children, grandchildren, and her fellow brothers and sisters in Christ. She was a beloved wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, and great friend to all that knew her. An additional role that she loved to fulfill was being a long-distance PenPal with her friends June and Terry Padmore from England whom she loved dearly.
Karen is survived by her husband, Charlie Morris, daughter Julie (Morris) Anderson, sister
Charlotte (McGovern) Marsh, brother Bob Gray, brother and sister-in-law Leo and Harriett
Burger, brother-in-law Forrest “Butch” Eick, grandchildren Alayna (EJ) Fry, Andrea Anderson
(Craig Cox), Charles “Chas” Morris (Emilie Mencer), Emily Anderson (Carrick Miller), Sarah
Anderson (Aidan Pasiuk), Nicholas “Nick” (Cailyn) Morris, and great grandchildren Finlee Morris,
Mazlee Morris, Caraline Morris, Everly Fry, Waylon Morris, nephews Jeff Eick and Chad Eick,
niece Shelley Marsh, and many others.
She is preceded in death by her father and mother, William McGovern and Mary (Treece) Bailey, father and mother-in-law Andy and Margaret Morris, son Chuck Morris, sister Paulette (Gray) Eick, sisters-in-law Carolyn (Morris) Schlauch and Francis “Frankie” (Morris) Carpenter, brother-in-law William “Bill” Morris, niece Jenny (Burger) Marinelli, and great niece Ashley Taylor.
On Monday, June 2nd, family and friends of Karen are invited to calling hours from 1pm – 2pm with a funeral following at Killbuck First Church of Christ. Burial will take place immediately afterward at Union Grove Church of Christ Cemetery, Killbuck, Ohio. A meal will be shared in fellowship at Killbuck First Church of Christ following the burial.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Holmes County
Home (7260 SR 83 Holmesville, OH 44691) or Ohio Hospice LifeCare (1900 Akron Rd.
Wooster, OH 44691).
The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to the faculty and staff of the Holmes
County Home for the exceptional care and compassion they provided throughout her stay.
Though we mourn her loss, we rejoice in knowing that she is now resting in the presence of her Lord and Savior.
