Judy Marlene Smetzer, age 77, of Big Prairie, Ohio went home to be with the Lord on Monday, January 29, 2024 at Danbury of Millersburg with her husband at her side.

Funeral service will be 11a.m. Saturday February 3rd at Nashville Church of Christ with Pastor Brad Dodson officiating. Burial will take place in Nashville Cemetery, Nashville, Ohio. Friends may call from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday at the church.

Judy was born January 20, 1947 in Holmes County, Ohio and was the daughter of Clyde and Maxine (Adams) Young. On February 13, 1966 she married Roy A. Smetzer, and he survives.

Judy was a 1965 graduate of West Holmes High School. She was a Christian homemaker. Judy was a member of Nashville Church of Christ, a member of the Shreve American Legion Post 67 and was a former president of the Holmes County Genealogy Society. She enjoyed crocheting, baking, and genealogy and loved visiting greenhouses with her granddaughters. 

Surviving in addition to her husband, Roy are two sons: Rex (Jodi) Smetzer of Wooster, Ohio and Ray Smetzer of Houston, Texas; two granddaughters and their spouses: Jessica (Brian) Haynes of Wooster, Ohio and Nicole (Jose) Cruz of Houston, Texas; and seven great grandchildren: Cameron, Kelan, Dexter and Ruby Haynes and Gianni, Enzo and Adelina Cruz. She is also survived by her brother Bill (Jeannie) Young of Nashville, Ohio and a nephew, Rickey Young.

She was preceded in death by her parents.
