Jerry B. Strouse

It is with great gratitude for the generous, kind and purpose filled life of Jerry Brooke Stouse, 92, that we as his family, announce his death at his home on Wednesday, July 17, 2024.

He was born on March 15, 1932 to the late Robert and Twila (Matheny) Strouse at his home in Wild Cat Holler; by Tiverton.

Jerry was a 1950 graduate of Glenmont High School and honorably served his country in the Army during the Korean War. After basic training on Dec. 18, 1952, he married the love of his life Beatrice Irene (Bower), she preceded him in 2016.

He lived for the past 60 years with his family on the farm outside of Millersburg. Jerry was a member of the Millersburg Christian Church and was also a member of the Millersburg Spartan Masonic Lodge. He worked for Holmes – Wayne Electric for 39 years before retiring in 1992. While working for the electric company he also farmed 200 acres. In his later years he enjoyed mowing with his Ventrac, traveling, hunting, and going to his pond to fish.

He leaves behind his 4 children, Eric (Sharon) Strouse of Millersburg, Beth (John) Crone of Shreve, Aaron (Faye) Strouse of Millersburg, and Donna (Greg) Swartzentruber of Apple Creek; 13 grandchildren, Jordan, Marie, Lorraine & Keaton, Peter, Jill & George, Quin, Nicole & Natalie, and Emily, Andrea & Olivia, he was blessed with 20 greatgrandchildren with one more on the way; and his sister, Lois Blanchard also survives him.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Duane and Tom; and a sister, Peggy Jones.

Family and friends may call Friday, July 26 from 6:00-8:00pm at NewPointe Community Church, Millersburg, and one hour prior to the funeral service, which will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, July 27, also at the Church, with Thom White officiating. Burial will follow in Nashville Cemetery where military honors will be presented by the Millersburg American Legion and the Killbuck VFW.
