Jason Edward Weigand
February 7, 1968 ~ December 23, 2023 (age 55) 55 Years Old
Jason Edward Weigand, 55, passed away due to natural causes on December 23rd, 2023 at Baptist Medical Center South in Jacksonville, Florida. He was the husband of Jennifer Weigand, and the two shared thirty-two years together.
Son of the late Shirley Ann Salvo (Miller) and Harry Weigand, Jason was born on February 7th, 1968 in Millersburg, Ohio. In school, Jason excelled in athletics, especially wrestling. He was inducted into both the West Holmes High School Hall of Fame as well as the Holmes County Hall of Fame. Upon graduating from West Holmes High School in 1986, Jason enlisted in The United States Army. Jason served his country for six years and earned the honorable title of Airborne Ranger. While serving, he underwent basic and advanced training at Ft. Leonard Wood, Missouri. Jason had assignments at Ft. Leonard Wood, Missouri; Ft. Campbell, Kentucky; and Ft. Bragg, North Carolina. Jason graduated from the following schools: Airborne Ranger, Air Assault, and Special Forces Assessment and Selection. In 1991, Jason met Jennifer Fair; Jason was honorably discharged in 1992, as he wanted to pursue his relationship with Jennifer. Jason attended The University of Mount Union in Alliance, Ohio, where he earned his Bachelor of Science in Accounting. While pursuing his degree, Jason wrestled for the university and became an NCAA Division III three-time All American, in addition to making lifelong friendships with teammates and coaches. He married his wife Jennifer Suzanne Weigand (Fair) on August 7th, 1996. From that moment on, he loved and provided for his daughters and the love of his life in their twenty-seven years of marriage. Jason and Jennifer bought their first home in Wooster, Ohio. The couple adopted their eldest daughter, Jenna Weigand, from Kazakhstan in February of 2003. In 2006, after nine years of being a partner at NAGEL, WEIGAND, & CPAs, Jason began his career with Bridgestone Americas. His career moved the family from Wooster, Ohio to Fairview, Tennessee. His career then took them to Des Moines, Iowa the following year. In December 2008, the Weigand family traveled to China to adopt their second daughter, Jaci Weigand. Jason’s job eventually took the family to Wake Forest, North Carolina as well as Franklin, Tennessee. In both Wake Forest and Franklin, Jason built strong friendships through work, poker as well as golf. Jason took on the role of Chief Financial Officer for Bridgestone HosePower in 2022, which moved the family to Saint Augustine, Florida where they reside today.
Jason will be remembered as a loving husband and father, devoted friend, successful businessman, and avid golfer. He was an intelligent and hard working man who could achieve any goal he set his mind to. His generosity, kindness, and humorous spirit had touched the lives of everyone who knew him. Jason loved to spend time with his wife and daughters, golf with friends, ride his motorcycle along the coast, and cheer on The Ohio State University football team.
Jason is preceded in death by his mother, Shirley Ann Salvo, and his brother, Niel Harry Weigand. His memory lives on through his loving wife, Jennifer Suzanne Weigand, daughter Jennifer (Jenna) Ann Weigand, and daughter Jaci Lu Weigand.
Donations can be made in Jason’s honor to Canines for Warriors (K9s for Warriors 114 Camp K9 Road Ponte Vedra, Florida 32081), an organization that serves to improve mental health and end veteran suicide with canine assistance. A celebration of life service will be held at the Jacksonville National Cemetery at a later date.
