He was born on September 11, 1933, to Harley and Grace Strouse Shinabarker. He served in the Army and was stationed in Germany. After his discharge, he married his wife, Jean Chanay, on September 29th, 1956.  They spent 66 wonderful years together.
Jim started his employment at Briar Hill Stone Company as a crane operator, but he was a truck driver at heart, and spent most of his years pulling mobile homes for Midwest housing, and driving a log truck for Semac Industries, and Ray Miller logging. After retiring, he worked as a driver for the Veterans Administration.
He served as fire chief for Richland Twp. Fire dept and spent many winters plowing snow for the village. He was also president of the town counsel for a time, and did what he could throughout his life, to serve the village he loved.
His pride and Joy and what he considered his most precious gifts were his two adopted daughters Pam & Cindi. He was so proud of his two girls and made mention of them every chance he got.
Jim didn't know a stranger and was quite the joker. It was understood, if he teased you, he liked you.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a stepmother Laura  Shinabarker, and brothers Ed, Earl, Bob, and sisters, Vera McCafferty, Edith Croskey, Helen Jones
Survived by his wife, daughters, Pam (Rocky) Smith, Cindi (Todd) VanSickle, grandchildren, Randi (Brent), Taylor, Trevor (Ciarra), Jimmy, and great grandchildren, Myli, Railynn, Kayden, Avion and Eleanora. A special sister-in-law, Norma Shinabarker,  and several nieces and nephews.
