James Howard Chaney

A LIFE WELL LIVED

Early in the morning on November 25, 2021, James Howard Chaney shuffled off this mortal coil to that magnificent fishing lake in the sky.  Jim, as he was known to most, was a man of few words but a big heart.  Never able to sit still for very long, Jim often busied himself helping others from fixing broken appliance to caring for his granddogs.  A strongly devoted Christian, Jim was a pillar of his church, focused on saving lost souls and regularly reading his bible and praying.  While a staunch Republican and regular Fox News watcher, Jim did not judge those who held other viewpoints as he held fast to his own. 

Jim’s legacy lives on through his three surviving children – Daniel Howard Chaney, June Marie Chaney and Susie Chaney – as well as his multiple grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.  Many from his community and church will remember his quiet but forceful presence as well as his giving and helpful nature.  He is reunited with the love of his life, Beatrice Mace Chaney, who predeceased him by six years, as well as his brothers Robert Chaney and Don Chaney, sister Norma Jean Hochstetler and his daughter, Debora Jean Chaney.  Knowing his greatest joy was spending time with his family and fishing, we hope that he is spending time with his loved ones and fishing on pristine lakes overflowing with all types of fish.

Funeral services will be 12 noon, Saturday, Nov. 27th at Killbuck Valley Christian Church with Pastor Dale Duncan officiating. Burial will take place at Killbuck Cemetery.
