James “Jim” Scott Biltz of Millersburg, Ohio died July 5, 2026 at Danbury Senior Living after an extended illness.

Jim was born in Elyria, Ohio May 3, 1948, to Frederick and Mildred (nee Rhoads) Biltz.  He was a 1966 graduate of Elyria High School before voluntarily enlisting in the United States Navy in 1968.  During the Vietnam War he distinguished himself on The USS Franklin D. Roosevelt (CV-42) as a Petty Officer and was honorably discharged in 1972.

After returning stateside, he worked for the City of Elyria in the Parks Department and as part of his duties he was responsible for feeding the bears at Cascade Park.  Later he worked at the City of Elyria Water Pumping Plant.  He retired in the early 2000s from the city and continued his passion for outdoor sports and was always eager for hunting camp to open.  Jim was an avid reader and had an extensive library covering a wide range of topics.  He lived in Elyria until 2016 when he moved to Millersburg.

Jim was preceded in death by his mother and father.  He is survived by his brother Gary (Jill, nee Kopcho) and his sister Jane (TR) Zinsmeister, along with his nephews Brian, Steven and Scott (Melissa, nee Rohr).  He also has nine great-nephews and great-nieces who will always miss “Uncle Jim”. 

Calling hours will be from 4-6 p.m. on Thursday July 9th at Alexander Funeral Home located at 8612 State Route 39, Millersburg, Ohio.  Graveside services with military honors will be 11 a.m. Friday, July 10th at Ridge Hill Memorial Park located at 44805 North Ridge Road, Amherst, Ohio.  Friends and family are encouraged to attend either or both services.  After the graveside service friends and family are welcome to join us at The American Legion Post 12 in Elyria at 393 Ohio Street for a light lunch and refreshments.
