James Dwayne Alexander Obituary

James Dwayne Alexander, 79, of Nashville passed away Tuesday, May 21, 2024, at Ohio’s Hospice LifeCare in Wooster, Ohio after suffering a brain hemorrhage.

He was born September 2, 1944, to Harold Joseph and Rosetta “Dayle” Alexander. He married Judy Ann Martin on July 4, 1965, at Zion Lutheran Church in Loudonville, Ohio.

Jim was a lifelong member of the Nashville Church of Christ where he served as an elder and Sunday School teacher for many years. He had a passion for and was active in Men’s Ministry. He had also served as a trustee at Round Lake Christian Camp. Anyone who knew Jim enjoyed his easy-going sense of humor and caring demeanor and love of life.

After farming for several years with his brother on the family farm, he began and grew his business, Alexander’s Sandblasting & Painting. He loved fun and adventure and enjoyed flying his ultralights and snowmobiling in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Jeff (Elizabeth) Alexander, Jill (Chris) Wood, and Joe (Rhonda) Alexander. He is also survived by his grandchildren Cruz, Eden and Daphne Alexander, Leeanne and Andrew Wood, and step-grandchildren Rebekah and Jeremiah Dorris. Jim is survived by a brother, Leland (Jana) Alexander of Prescott, Arizona, and a sister, Patricia (Tim) Lanzer of Alliance.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Larry Alexander.

Family will receive friends Saturday, May 25 from 6:00-8:00pm at Nashville Church of Christ. Funeral services will be held 2:00pm Sunday, May 26, also at the church, with Pastor Brad Dodson officiating. Burial will follow in Nashville Cemetery.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Nashville Church of Christ, 13457 SR 39, Big Prairie, OH 44611 or to Ohio’s Hospice LifeCare, 1900 Akron Rd., Wooster, OH 44691.
