He was a member of the Ohio National Guard and the Killbuck Sportsman's Club in his early years. He was also a life long member of Welcome Church of Christ.
Herbert never knew a stranger. He loved to talk and to tell stories of the "good old" days. He could tell you everyone who lived in Western Holmes County and who belonged to who.
He also enjoyed "puttering" on the family land near Killbuck, porch sitting while watching wildlife, spending time in Canada, side-by-side riding throughout the neighborhood, and spending time with friends.
Most of all he enjoyed his family, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and all of their activities. He could always count on his "sidekick" Korey!
