Herbert Henry Martin, age 82, of Killbuck, Ohio, passed away Saturday, July 29th, 2023 at his home surrounded by his family.
Herbert was born May 8th, 1941 at home in Killbuck, Ohio to Ada and Henry Martin. He grew up near Nashville, Ohio and graduated from Nashville High School in 1959.
He married Margaret Uhl on July 24th, 1960 and they recently celebrated their 63rd Wedding Anniversary.
Herbert loved to work. He spent time in the oil fields, and ran dozer doing construction and helped build Lake Buckhorn. He retired from Holmes County Highway in 2003. He was a member of the Ohio National Guard and the Killbuck Sportsman's Club in his early years. He was also a life long member of Welcome Church of Christ.
Herbert never knew a stranger. He loved to talk and to tell stories of the "good old" days. He could tell you everyone who lived in Western Holmes County and who belonged to who.
He also enjoyed "puttering" on the family land near Killbuck, porch sitting while watching wildlife, spending time in Canada, side-by-side riding throughout the neighborhood, and spending time with friends.
Most of all he enjoyed his family, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and all of their activities. He could always count on his "sidekick" Korey!
Surviving in addition to his wife Margaret are his daughter-in-law Pat Martin of Shreve, and children Kevin (Kim) Martin of Killbuck and Denise (Mike) Dorgan of Alabama. Grandchildren: Erika (Jason) Schuch, Tara (Brent) Sheldon, Korey, Kinsey and Kaylin Martin, Kyle (Noelle) Dorgan, and Brittany (Zack) Kesterson.
