Garnet Louise (Martin) Deitrich age 92, of Millersburg, Ohio, passed away Wednesday, December 4, 2024, in the comfort of her home surrounded by family, following a year of declining health.

Graveside services will be held 3 p.m. Thursday December 12, 2024, at Nashville Cemetery with pastor Dale Duncan officiating. 

She was born August 8, 1932, in Nashville, Ohio and grew up on the family farm.  Garnet was the daughter of Guy and Edna B. (Martin) Martin. On December 21, 1953, she married Charles “Chuck” R. Deitrich, and he preceded her in death on August 22, 2009.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Ohio’s Hospice Lifecare or Christian Children’s Home of Ohio.

Garnet graduated from Nashville High School and then attended Wooster Business School. She spent a short period of time in office work prior to devoting her lifetime to her family as a homemaker, raising her children along with several grandchildren. She was a member of the Welcome Church of Christ. She loved being outdoors after a life of growing up on a farm with 11 siblings. She gardened, canned, baked and prepared homemade meals for her family every day. In later years, she enjoyed Word Search puzzles, puzzles and her favorite activity was watching her birds.

She is survived by her children: Steven C. Deitrich of Wooster, Deborah J. (Harold) Butler of Killbuck, Denise A. (Bryan) Deitrich of Millersburg, Phillip C. Deitrich of Millersburg, and Dana (Lawrence) Price of Millersburg; grandchildren: Amy (Joe) Popeko, Shannon Deitrich, Matthew Deitrich, Mitchell (Stacy) Deitrich, Eric Tish, Brandi Murray, Chad Butler, Brandi (Clint) Haston, Brett Butler, Charles Lucas Ison, Seth Ison, Alexis (Zach) Sears, Abigail Price; several great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews, all who she loved unconditionally.  She is also survived by siblings: Jim (Marcia) Martin, Carol Martin, SIL Beverly Martin.

She was preceded in death by her parents Guy & Edna B. Martin, brothers and sisters: Robert (Ruby) Martin, Don (Nellie) Martin, Harold (Joanne) Martin, Fern Pyers, Welker (Ruth) Martin, Vernon Martin, Verna (Bob) Watts, Shirley (Norm) Klotz, William “Bill” (Marjorie) Martin, sister-in-law Joanne (Bert) Travis, and Colleen Nickerson
