Obituary


Eleanor Day, age 87, of Millersburg, Ohio passed away Sunday, May 14th, 2023 at Pomerene Hospital surrounded by her family. 

Graveside services will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 19th at Oak Hill Cemetery, Millersburg, Ohio. A gathering of family and friends will take place from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. Friday at the Killbuck Sportsman's Club, 10008 US 62, Killbuck, Ohio. Eleanor was born February 25th, 1936 on the family farm near Graysville, Ohio. She was the 13th of 16 children of the late Reverend William Arthur and Dorcas Lola (Febus) Weddle. Eleanor was a 1953 graduate of Antioch High School. Growing up she was a member of Greenbrier Methodist Church in the beautiful hills of Monroe County. She worked at Castle Snack Bar, The Village Restaurant, Big Wheel and retiring from Millersburg Walmart. Eleanor worked well into her 70's before retiring. She was a member of the Killbuck Valley Heifers Euchre Club. Eleanor enjoyed cruising on ships in the Caribbean, traveling to: Colorado, Arizona, Florida and South Carolina. She loved family farm gatherings, Memorial Day Weiner Roasts and Labor Day family reunions. She loved to cook for her family her famous noodles, macaroni salad, soups, assorted chocolates, especially her 300 buckeyes. She was known to bring 10 dishes to every family gathering, whether she was asked to or not.

She is survived by two children and their spouses: son, Randy (Deb) Day of Glenmont and daughter, Sandy (Frank) Baker of Killbuck; daughter-in-law, Lori (Hershberger) Day of Holmesville; grandchildren: Jason Day, Ami Day, Luke (Laura Schmucker) Baker, Kendra (John) Gundrum, Chris (Janel) Day, Megan Day - Eyler, Mitch (Kelley) Baker, Joey Day, Craig (Brittany) Day and Stephanie (Cory) Baker; great grandchildren: Cameron Day, Nathan Day, Elliana Day, Haddie Day, Craig Gundrum, Lauren Gundrum, Cole Baker, Olivia Day, Genevieve Baker, Lane Baker, Ava Day and Witten Day; and two siblings: brother, Ray (Judy Boyd) Weddle and sister, Beryl Weddle Christman both of Woodsville, Ohio.

She was preceded in death by her parents; siblings: Lemuel Weddle, Wiley Weddle, Woody Weddle, Paul Weddle, Sam Weddle, Bill Weddle, Vic Weddle, Frosty Weddle, Elmer Weddle, Dave Weddle, Ida Weddle Piatt, Jane Weddle Kenney and Mary Weddle Hines; two children: son, Rick Day and daughter, Pam Day; and son-in-law, Craig Swisher.
