Dorothy I. Purdy, age 98, of Killbuck, Ohio went home to be with the Lord, Wednesday June 24, 2026, at Pomerene Hospital following a period of declining health.

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday July 1, 2026, at the Killbuck Methodist Church with Pastor Ken Smailes officiating. Burial will follow at Killbuck Cemetery. Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the church.

Dorothy was born August 7, 1927, in Winesburg, Ohio, to the late Eldon and Pearl (Weaver) Scheufler. She married Noble Eugene “Chick” Purdy, who preceded her in death on November 23, 1975. A homemaker, Dorothy, later worked at Killbuck Savings Bank from 1971 to 1989 and also held various cleaning jobs. She enjoyed traveling, visiting local fairs, playing cards, crocheting, and quilting.

Dorothy is survived by her two sons Richard Purdy and Gary Purdy; sister Alice (John) Kaiser and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her siblings Ralph, Charles and Gladys.
