Dean Franklin Engel of Millersburg, Ohio passed away Saturday, May 27, 2023 at Ohio's Hospice LifeCare, Wooster, Ohio.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Sunday, June 4th at Faith Lutheran Church of Millersburg with Pastor Jeff Scott officiating. Burial will take place in Berlin Cemetery, Berlin, Ohio. Friends may call from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Saturday at Alexander Funeral Home, Millersburg, Ohio. Dean was born March 23, 1930 at home on Bunker Hill in Holmes County. He was the son of Frank and Alice (Yoder) Engel. On May 20, 1951 he married Mary Frances May and she preceded him in death on  September 21, 2015.

Dean was a graduate of Berlin High School. He sold tractors with his dad, and later worked at Ben Bell Chevrolet where he was a long-term member of Legion of Leaders. He was a member of the Faith Lutheran Church of Millersburg. Dean enjoyed Harness Racing, swimming, boating and exercising. He loved listening to and playing music and dancing with his wife.

He is survived by three children: Susan Engel Bevington (Larry) of Frankfort, Kentucky, Robert Dean Engel (Deb) of Jeromesville, Ohio and Cynthia Rae Engel (Skeeter Holley) of Berlin, Ohio; 4 grandchildren: John Bevington (Dinah), Daniel Bevington (Rachelle), Jennifer Goff (James) and Brandi Engel Cihlar, (Charlie); 10 great grandchildren: Ben, Drew, Camryn Sue, Ellie and Mallory Bevington, Juliette and Liam Goff, and Corey, Samuel and Cameron Cihlar; his brother, Wayne Engel of Harrisonburg, Virginia; two nieces; and one nephew.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Mary Margaret (Engel) Close Parker.
