Dean Allen Conner, 85, passed away on June 4, 2026 in Mount Vernon, Ohio. He was born on November 6, 1940 in Killbuck, Ohio to Floyd and Claudia Conner and graduated from Killbuck High School.  

Dean attended the National Hardwood Lumber Association Inspector Training School in Memphis, Tennessee and then began a career in the lumber and building products industry as a lumber grader across the upper midwestern United States. In 1961 he transitioned to a position with Kingswood Lumber Company in Columbus, Ohio while studying accounting at Franklin University. Dean quickly became the company’s top lumber salesman. Always a hard worker, he simultaneously ran his own general contracting business. In 1990 he moved on to Jones Lumber where he finished his career.  

Dean was known for his love of people and always finding new activities and interests. He was an avid card player, billiard player, investor, dog owner and he loved getting involved in home improvement projects.

Dean is survived by his sons David (with wife Jane) of Columbus and Brian of Newport, Kentucky, grandchildren Rachel and Douglas of Hilliard, Ohio, brother Lester (Bud) Conner, sister-in-law Louise, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.   

He is preceded in death by his parents as well as brothers Denver and Larry.  

Calling hours will be at Alexander Funeral Home, Millersburg, Ohio from 1:00 to 2:30 p.m. on Thursday June 11th, with remembrances immediately afterward led by Pastor Dale Duncan.
