David Allen Steele

David Allen Steele, age 67 of Fredericksburg, Ohio passed away Wednesday, January 18, 2023.

He was born October 28, 1955 and was the son of James Dallas Steele and Beverly (Kaylor) Steele.

David graduated from West Holmes High School in 1973. After graduation, he became a Jack of all trades in the oilfield during the local boom in the 70's and 80's, working as a roughneck and tool dresser. He later drove and dispatched trucks for his dad at J.D. Steele Trucking.

Dave loved riding his Moto Guzi around the country, meeting many friends along the way. If you were a friend to Dave, you knew it. If you weren't, you probably knew that too. He could be picked out of a crowd of people just by his unique laugh. In 2017 he was in a horrific semi accident in Oklahoma. After numerous surgeries they were able to save his hand. The results were that he could no longer 'tinker" with the engines and equipment like he loved to do.

His most recent dream was to own and drive a Nash, of which he did not get done.

David is survived by a daughter, Melissa (Matt) Shaner; a son, Dallas Steele (Samantha Klepacz); grandson, Zak Shaner; partner, Cindy Hosfeld; and his beloved dog, Buster. He is also survived by his sister, Susan (Jr.) Stutzman; nephew, Joe (Nicole) Stutzman; niece, Jamie (Travis) Swartzentruber; and two great nieces: Olive Stutzman and River Swartzentruber.
