David Edgar Mellor Obituary

David Edgar Mellor, 83, of Killbuck Ohio passed away Thursday, May 23, 2024.



David was born March 1st, 1941, to the late Edgar & Alice Mellor. Graduating in 1959 from Killbuck High School, during his senior football season, the Killbuck Bucks went undefeated. David served in the Army from November 1963 to November 1965, retiring with the rank of Corporal. He was stationed in Panama during his military service, David served as a Paratrooper. When he wasn’t airborne, he discovered a passion for scuba diving.


A skilled craftsman, David had a remarkable talent for working with wood. There wasn’t anything he couldn’t do, from elaborate checkerboards and wagons to cedar chests and bowls. Many hours were spent in the wood shop, where his creativity flowed freely as he meticulously crafted gifts that were as beautiful as they were cherished.


David is survived by his brothers Byron (Linda) Mellor, Stephen (Dolletta Chaney) Mellor, and Keith Mellor. He is also survived by nieces and nephews: Pam (Todd) Quellhorst, Becky (Todd) Bridenthal, Brett (Faye) Mellor, Brian (Amy) Mellor, Adam (Lori) Mellor, David (Roxana) Mellor, along with 13 great-nieces and nephews, and 8 great-great-nieces and nephews.


Per David's wishes, there will be no funeral or calling-hour services. However, there will be a celebration of life at Lake Buckhorn Main Beach Pavilion on June 9th from 4 to 6 pm.  With military rites conducted by the Killbuck VFW and Millersburg American Legion beginning at 4pm.


In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105.
