Cheryl Ellen Starner, age 77, of Brinkhaven, Ohio went home to be with the Lord on Monday, October 2, 2023 at Wooster Community Hospital, Wooster, Ohio, following a brief illness.
Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, October 7th at Alexander Funeral Home, Millersburg, Ohio with Pastor Cliff Beck officiating. Burial will take place at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church Cemetery, Glenmont, Ohio. Friends may call from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Cheryl was born February 10, 1946 in Millersburg, Ohio and was the daughter of Charles and Gloria (Reiss) Brightwell. On August 18, 1965 she married Charles Walter Starner and he survived.
Cheryl was a 1964 graduate of Millersburg High School. She attended Western Kentucky University for a year before transferring to Ashland University where she received her degree. She was a physical education teacher for 3 years at Danville High School and worked 25 years at Castle Nursing Home as a Social Worker. Cheryl was a member of Millersburg Christian Church and attended Union Grove Church of Christ. She enjoyed going to county fairs and watching harness racing with her husband. She enjoyed collecting quilts and stamps.
Surviving in addition to her husband, are two children: Veronica (Scott) Morrison of Rescue, California and Ezra (Rebecca) Starner of Wellington, Ohio; 4 grandchildren: Rose (Joel) Knopp, Sarah Morrison, Stacey Starner and Allie Starner; one great grandchild on the way; a sister, Phyllis Smail of Killbuck, Ohio; a brother, Robert Brightwell of Toledo, Ohio; numerous nieces and nephews; extended family, Donald and Genia Fortune; and her good friend and college roommate, Carolyn Johnson.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Paget Lynch; and a brother, Charles "Chuck" Brightwell Jr.
