Carol (Jones) Guthrie Obituary

Clark - Carol (Jones) Guthrie (85) was called home by Jesus on December 3rd, 2024. She passed away peacefully while surrounded by her family, following a long battle with heart/kidney failure.

Born in Millersburg on June 23rd, 1939, she was the daughter of the late Raymond and Dorothy Jones. She met her husband (Gary) at a ball game at the Killbuck/Clark Consolidated High School. They married on November 4, 1961 and were devoted to each other for 59 years. Surviving are her two sons: Todd (Brenda) Guthrie of Clark and Terry Guthrie of Frazeysburg; grandsons: Jeremy Guthrie of Clark and Nicholas Guthrie of Killbuck/Layland; step grandsons: Mickey Landon of Zanesville and Cody (Julia) Landon of Walnut Creek; and a great granddaughter, Dallas Guthrie. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gary and her brother, Welker Jones.

Carol spent most of her life as a housewife and stay-at-home mother but was employed by the West Holmes school system as part of the food service staff for over 20 years. Carol was a devout Christian with a strong will (maybe stubborn?) but had a loving heart. She would do anything and everything for her family and friends (including her church family) and was very proud of her sons, grandsons, and great granddaughter. Carol loved to cook and would never let you leave her house hungry. She loved to spend time with family and friends.

Carol loved Jesus and was a loyal and committed member of the Killbuck First Church of Christ. God gave Carol talents in music as she played the organ for the church services for many years (something that she looked forward to and enjoyed very much). She played the piano and sang in the church choir for a period of time. She enjoyed playing her Hammond organ at home and would often play it for family, friends and visitors.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday, December 9th. at the Killbuck First Church of Christ, Killbuck, Ohio with Pastor Rik Snyder officiating. Burial will take place at Killbuck Cemetery. Friends may call from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Sunday at Alexander Funeral Home, Millersburg, Ohio. Those wishing to share a memory or make online condolences may do so by visiting www.alexanderfhinc.com
