Carla C. McDowell- Barnhart, age 81, of Millersburg, Ohio passed away Wednesday, March 6, 2024 with her loving family at her side. Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, March 9th at Alexander Funeral Home, Millersburg, Ohio with Todd Booth officiating. Burial will take place at Oak Hill Cemetery, Millersburg, Ohio. Family suggests memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society. Carla was born November 16, 1942 in Wayne County, Ohio and was the daughter of Ed and Grace Boswell. On March 31, 2006. She married Emmett Barnhart and he survives. Carla worked 25 plus years at the West Holmes treasurer’s office. She was a member of the Millersburg Christian Church where she was involved in the women's fellowship and was treasurer of the friendship class. She enjoyed flowers, gardening, canning, cooking for family dinners, animals, and her puppy Barney. She loved spending time with her family and quilting for all of her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her family always came first as well as her love for her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She leaves behind a grieving but grateful family that will share memories and stories to carry on her legacy. Surviving in addition to her husband Emmett are children: Tom (Kim) McDowell, Tammy McDowell, Tim (Vickie) McDowell, Mike (Jenny) Barnhart and Scott (Shelly) Barnhart; grandchildren: Tim Jr. (Alyssa) McDowell, Cory (Karly) McDowell, Briana (Mike) Patena, Trevor (Carrie) McDowell, Dustin McDowell, Leah Hammer, Chase Barnhart, Ian Barnhart, Jen (Craig) Miller, Jordan (Rick) Anderson, Raymond Barnhart, Samatha Barnhart, Carson Barnhart, Xavier Barnhart, Alex Barnhart, and Brittney Barnhart. Great Grandchildren: Corbin, Kash, Austin, Sophia, Cade, Sayler, Mac, Masin, Gabriela, Natlie, Lucas, Madline, Macy, and Oliver She was preceded in death by her parents; former husband, Harold "Red" McDowell; sister, Kathy Kuhn; and stepson, Brian Barnhart.
