Bonnie Marie Doty

Bonnie Marie Doty, age 99, of Nashville, Ohio passed away Monday, February 27, 2023.

Bonnie was born August 10, 1923 in Holmes County, Ohio, and was the daughter of Clayton and Hazel (Pyers) Rockenfelder. Bonnie married Albert Doty on July 1, 1944. She was a graduate of Nashville High School, Oberlin College, and Ashland University. She taught in the West Holmes School District mainly at  Millersburg Elementary. Bonnie was the oldest member of the Nashville United Methodist Church. She was a member of the Retired Teacher’s Association of Holmes County and a 40-year member of Delta Kappa Gamma Society. She volunteered at the Holmes County Victorian House Museum in Millersburg for many years. After her retirement from teaching, Bonnie became a “snow bird” wintering in Bonita Springs, Florida, where she was an active member of the Art League of Bonita Springs. 

Bonnie was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and brothers, Don (Mary Evelyn) Rockenfelder and Earl (Fayonna) Rockenfelder, and her dear lifetime friend Jean Spencer (Rollie) of LaGrange, Illinois. She is survived by her daughters Janet (John) Mason of Millersburg and Jeanie Doty of Mayhill, New Mexico, her granddaughters Carri Mason and Katie Mason, and numerous nieces and nephews.

The Family wishes to express its sincere gratitude to the close friends of Bonnie’s who supported and cared for her so beautifully over the years. She cherished each and every one of you.

Friends may call from 6 to 8 pm, Monday, March 6th at Alexander Funeral Home in Millersburg, Ohio. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 pm on Tuesday, March 7th with Pastor Ken Smailes officiating.
