Betty J. Scheibe, age 86 of New Albany, Indiana, and formerly of Millersburg, Ohio passed away on December 3, 2024 following a brief illness.

Funeral services will be held 12 noon on Tuesday, December 17th at Alexander Funeral Home, Millersburg, Ohio. A private family graveside will take place at Killbuck Cemetery, Killbuck, Ohio. Friends may call from 10 a.m. to 12 noon on Tuesday at the funeral home.

Betty was born September 19, 1938 in Millersburg, Ohio and was the daughter of W. Stanley and Eva H. (Lemon) Fath. On April 8, 1972 she married Gary L. Scheibe and he preceded her in death in September of 2000. 

Betty was an elementary school teacher for 36 years. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Millersburg and Trinity Unity Methodist Church in New Albany. Betty was also a member of the Holmes County Retired Teachers Association and the Ohio Retired Teachers Association. She volunteered for the Pomerene Hospital Auxiliary and was an election poll worker for many years.

She is survived by her son, Tim (Amy) Fath; stepdaughter: Tammy (Steve) Posey; grandchildren: Jordan, Shelby, Caleb and Jena Fath; step grandchildren: W. Lee Houseworth, Phillip and Jonathan Posey, and Anjia N. Scheibe; step great-grandchildren: Dante Houseworth and Lexie Posey; and siblings: William (Marilyn) Fath, Kay Huffman, Michael (Diana) Fath, Rebecca (William) Augsburger, and Robin King.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Gary; stepson, Todd Scheibe; siblings: Larry (Jean) Fath, Patricia Bender, and Nancy Gardner; brothers-in-law: Carroll Huffman, James Bender, Henry King, and Herbert Gardner; and beloved fur babies: Mandy, Abby, and Jackson.
