"Together Again"

  Betty Maxine Piar, 101 of Millersburg passed away peacefully in her home on September 16th, 2025 surrounded by her loving family.  

  Betty was born May 31, 1924, in Blachleyville, Ohio to Charles T. and Dorthy G. (Wharton) Long. She married Arthur C. Piar on March 28, 1948. He died on December 27, 2003. 

  She was a hard worker alongside her husband managing and operating Piar Mineral Ridge Dairy Farm just outside of Millersburg, Ohio. She proudly worked on airplane hydraulics at Goodyear during WWII and was a “Rosie the Riveter”. She enjoyed traveling with family to visit her grandchildren, gardening, canning, puzzles, and watching her grandchildren and great-grandchildren run circles through her home. 

  Surviving are children Susan Rhoades, Larry (Lynn) Piar, Lisa (Troy) Sutton all of Millersburg; grandchildren, Laura (Jeremiah) Chmielowiec, Jenna Rhoades, Jared (Lynsi) Piar, Lindsey (Ryan) Anthony, and Maegan (Alex) Longyear; great grandchildren, Keanen, Fletcher, Amelia, Ivy, Aspen, Ariana, Bray, and Capri; sisters, Sandra (Leo) Whitworth, Doris (Kenny) Summers; brothers, Dick Long and Donald (Barb) Long, along with many nieces and nephews. 

  She was preceded in death by parents, husband; brother, Edwin Long; sisters, Ruthie Long, Cotta Spade, Wanda Griffith, Phyllis Yates; brothers-in-law, Ernest Yates, Wilbur Spade.

  Services will be at Alexander Funeral Home in Millersburg on Friday, September19th at 1pm with Pastor Brad Dodson officiating. Family and Friends may call September 19th from 11:00am – 1:00pm prior to services at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Hopewell Cemetery.
