Bessie C. Purdy, age 96, of Killbuck, Ohio passed away Thursday, September 21, 2023 at Pomerene Hospital, Millersburg, Ohio surrounded by family. 

Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 26th at Alexander Funeral Home, Millersburg, Ohio with Clifford Beck officiating. Burial will take place at Killbuck Cemetery, Killbuck, Ohio. Friends may call from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Bessie was born July 26, 1927 in Brinkhaven, Ohio and was the daughter of Samuel and Ethel (White) Crider. On May 14, 1949 she married Robert L. and he preceded her in death on September 5, 1971.

Bessie worked 29 years for Rice and Chadwick Rubber Shop in Killbuck. After retirement she worked at Wilson's Country Creations. Bessie was also a Pomerene Auxiliary volunteer for many years. She was a member of the Killbuck Church of Christ. She enjoyed crocheting, housework, flower gardening, feeding hummingbirds, and she loved spending time and caring for her family.

She is survived by her two daughters: Ginger L. Criddle of Killbuck and Diane (Ernest) Criddle of Millersburg; five grandchildren: Cecil Allen Criddle (Beth), Susan Lee Blagg (James), Janie Lynn Takas (Mike), Karen S. Tish and Rachel Marie Goans (Steve); 7 great-grandchildren: McKayla Lee, Brittany Lynn, Madison Jo, Syrus Cole, Isaiah James, Lincoln Andrew and Kinley Sophia; two great great grandchildren: Waylon James and Raeleeah Lynn; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert; all nine of her siblings; and her former son-in-law, James Criddle.
