Atlee Schonauer age 84 of Millersburg, Ohio died Saturday afternoon, August 18, 2018, at Aultman Hospital in Canton, Ohio following a period of declining health.
Funeral services will be 3:00 P.M. Wednesday at Alexander Funeral Home, Millersburg, Ohio.
Friends may call from 1:00 P.M. to 3:00 P.M. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery, Millersburg, Ohio with military rites being conducted by the Killbuck VFW and the Millersburg American Legion.
Family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.
He was born July 22, 1934 in Killbuck, Ohio and was the son of John and Donna (Smail) Schonauer. On December 2, 1957 he married Martha Norman and she preceded him in death March 7, 2005.
He worked in construction and for 20 years was a truck driver for Buckeye Pipeline.
Atlee was a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the U.S. Army in Germany as a mechanic.
Surviving are 2 sons and their spouses, Mitch and Sarah Schonauer of Shreve, Ohio and Thomas "Bob" and Deborah Schonauer of Spring, Texas: 7 grandchildren, Angie (Brad) Baird of Canton, Ohio,
Elizabeth (Luke) Scadden of Holmes County, Kane Schonauer of Phoenix, Arizona, Caitlin Holiday of Wooster, Ohio. Rebecca (Jim) Carlsen of Massillon, Ohio, Wesley Schonauer of Texas, and Lauren Schonauer of Spring, Texas.: 10 great-grandchildren: a sister, Susie (Paul) Bucklew of Norwalk, Ohio: and three brothers Frank (Judy) Schonauer of Newark, Ohio, David ( Esther) Schonauer of Walnut Creek, Ohio, and Dwight Schonauer of Wooster, Ohio. He was preceded in death by a brother, Deacon Schonauer and a sister Erma.
