Sylvia Mae Stutzman, age 80, of Berlin, Ohio passed away Wednesday, August 30, 2017 at Walnut Hills Nursing Home, Walnut Creek, Ohio, surrounded by her loving family.
Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, September 5, 2017 at Berlin Mennonite Church with Pastors Myron Weaver and Jeff Hochstetler officiating. Burial will take place 10 a.m. Tuesday at Berlin Cemetery, Berlin, Ohio. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 Monday at the church and also from 9 to 9:30 Tuesday prior to the burial. Sylvia was born August 27, 1937 in Mesa, Arizona and was the daughter of Paul A. and Wilma (Webster) Porter. On August 27, 1954 she married Loil Stutzman and he survives.
Sylvia was a devoted mother and homemaker. She enjoyed playing the piano and was involved in church music as a soloist, was in trios, and taught Sunday school both in Ohio and Arizona. She was a member of the Scottsdale Symphony Chorus while living in Arizona. Sylvia was a cosmetologist practicing in Ohio and Arizona.
Surviving in addition to her husband are four children and their spouses, Greg Stutzman of Salisbury, Maryland, Linda (Dave) Miller of Trail, Ohio, David (Tracy) Stutzman of Phoenix, Arizona and Brenda (Mike) Hicks of Litchfield Park, Arizona; 11 grandchildren, Lynn (Debbie) Miller, Jesse (Lisa) Miller, Lane Stutzman, Carrie (Michael) Murtaugh, Chad (Jen) Stutzman, Sagre Stutzman, Dain Hicks, Taylor Stutzman, Ryan Stutzman, Kaden Hicks and Sadie Hicks; 5 great-grandchildren, Kaleb Bradley, Addison Stutzman, Theoden Murtaugh, Jacob Hicks and Jade Hicks; one sister, Wilma Tamburino of Port Orange, Florida; two brothers, James Porter Wooster, Ohio and Larry Porter of Globe, Arizona; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and two brothers, Paul Porter Jr. and Mark Porter.
