Sandy was born July 15th, 1941, the beloved only child of Verle and Esther (Miller) Spreng. She graduated from Nashville High School, Akron General Hospital School of Nursing, and St Joseph’s College. She was a nurse at Wooster Community Hospital for 39 years, serving as the Infection Control Coordinator for the last 20 years. She retired in 2001 to help raise her grandchildren.
Sandy is survived by two daughters, Jamie (Mike) Tippett and Kris (John) Pipes-Perone, two grandchildren, Layne and Kaylor Perone, special friends “The Golden Girls” Lois Fowler, Pat Wanat, and Joan Kiper and many other close friends and family.
Sandy was a lifelong advocate and community servant, touching many lives over the years. She served as 4-H advisor and camp nurse, Holmes County Fair Concession Manager, Volunteer EMT, Wayne/Holmes County Counseling Center Board member, and founding leader and passionate advocate of the AIDS Consortium.
Most importantly, Sandy was beloved by her family. She raised her girls to be strong, independent and successful women. She dearly loved her grandchildren and was their unbiased confidante. She will forever be their source of strength.
The family would like to thank the Aultman Hospital Surgical ICU staff for providing Sandy with both highly competent and compassionate care.
Rest in Peace Sandy, Mom, Gram. You will never be forgotten. Yaboo
