Ralph Sechriest, age 82, of Millersburg, Ohio passed away Thursday, May 10, 2018 at Sycamore Run Nursing Home, surrounded by his loving family, following an extended illness.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Monday, May 14th at Alexander Funeral Home, Millersburg, Ohio with pastors Herschell Hargrave and Martin Mann officiating. Burial will take place in Shrimplin Cemetery, Killbuck, Ohio. Friends may call from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Ralph was born October 31, 1935 in Warren, Pennsylvania and was the son of Earl and Mabel (Benson) Sechriest. On November 20, 1960 at Apple Creek United Methodist Church, he married Carol Hull and she survives.
Ralph received a Bachelor's degree from Thiel College where he was a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity, a Master's degree from Bowling Green State University and a Ph.D. from Ohio State University in Entomology, all by the age of 26. He was a Research Entomologist at the University of Illinois 15 years, and owned and operated several pest control businesses including Bugs R Gone in Millersburg. He belonged to Jitters Coffee House Church, Millersburg, Ohio. Ralph was a member of the Heart of Ohio Emmaus, and the Millersburg Rotary Club, where he was a Paul Harris Fellow. In 1966 he was awarded Outstanding Young Man of America. He raised tropical fish for over 50 years and was a member of the American Live Bearers Association. Ralph's family was so important to him and he was very proud of them. He loved growing things and working in his garden. Going to the Mt Hope auction every
 Wednesday was one of the highlights of his week. He attended Burning Hearts (Indiana) Walk to Emmaus #84 and participated in the Emmaus Heart of Ohio Face to Face Program.
Surviving in addition to his wife Carol are three children, Cindy Sechriest of Millersburg, Ohio, Robert (Janell) Sechriest of Rossville, Illinois and Cathy (Doug) Scott of Kodak, Tennessee; grandchildren, Matt (Frankie) Sechriest, Thomas (Brianna) Sechriest, Tyler Scott and Ashley Scott; and two great-grandchildren, Emmett and Aubrey Sechriest. He is also survived by two nephews and their spouses, Gene and Marce Wagner of Sioux City, Iowa and Jon and Kathy Wagner of Wilmington, Delaware.
Ralph was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Doris (Russell) Wagner.
