Melvin R. "Mel" Miller, age 89, of Wooster, Ohio and formerly of Millersburg, Ohio went home to be with the Lord, Thursday, July 12, 2018 at LifeCare Hospice, Wooster, Ohio following an extended illness.
Private family services will take place with Jim Butler and Hubert Maninga officiating. Burial will be at Nashville Cemetery, Nashville, Ohio. Mel was born August 20, 1928 in Berlin, Ohio and was the son of Valentine and Emma (Boley) Miller. On December 17, 1952 he married Pearl Wolgamot and she survives.
Mel worked 27 years at Flexible Company in Millersburg, 6 years at Regalware in Wooster and retired from the Gerstenslager Company after working there seven years. He was a member of Amazing Grace Baptist Temple and Millersburg. Mel was a veteran of the Korean War serving in the US Army. He enjoyed traveling and watching ball games. He was an avid sports fan that loved pitching baseball in his youth.
Surviving in addition to his wife, Pearl is a daughter, Laurie Green of Wooster, Ohio; a grandson, James Andrew Green (friend, Kay Shellhorn) of Wooster, Ohio; a sister, Maryann Schmidt of Millersburg, Ohio; a brother, Valentine Miller Jr.; and a sister-in-law, Joan Miller of Millersburg, Ohio.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and siblings, Ivan Troyer, Olen Miller, Ida Raber, Jenny Starner, Erma Miller and Vernie Miller.
